Fine-Tune Your Drumming: Sensitivity Adjustment Guide for TDC10 & TDC17

Whether you’ve just unboxed your TDC10 or upgraded to the arcade-size TDC17, welcome to a whole new level of Taiko no Tatsujin drumming!

Out of the box, both models come pre-configured with a well-balanced default sensitivity — tuned to deliver responsive hits for most players right away. In fact, many users find the factory settings already ideal for both casual and competitive gameplay.
That said, if you're looking for extra precision, want to tailor response to your unique playstyle, or need to adjust for lighter taps, the TDC Mate app gives you full control.

🔄 Step One: Stay Updated

Before adjusting anything, make sure your device is running the latest software:

  • TDC10: Firmware v2.27 or later

  • TDC17: Firmware v1.4 (5) or later

  • TDC Mate app: iOS v1.8+ or Android v1.6.1+

These updates unlock access to advanced sensitivity controls and tuning features.

⚙️ How to Adjust Sensitivity

The adjustment process is the same for both TDC10 and TDC17:

  1. Open the TDC Mate app and connect your drum via USB

  2. Go to the “Setting” tab

  3. Tap into “Sensitivity Config”

You’ll see two ways to adjust sensitivity:

Option 1: Overall Sensitivity (Quick & Simple)

Use the “Sensitivity Threshold” slider to control the overall sensitivity across all zones.

  • Lower = more sensitive (light hits register)

  • Higher = less sensitive (filters out weaker taps)

Great for quick adjustments if you're playing in a quiet space or using lighter bachi.

Option 2: Per-Zone Tuning (Advanced Control)

Enable “Signal Amp” to fine-tune each hit zone independently:

  • Left Don

  • Right Don

  • Left Ka

  • Right Ka

This feature is ideal for players who:

  • Notice uneven response between hands

  • Want to balance left/right sensitivity

  • Use specific grip styles or playing angles

  • Are switching between different types of bachi

With Per-Zone Tuning, you can dial in your drum to feel just right for you — down to the millimeter.

🧪 Real-Time Hit Testing (iOS Only)

If you're using the iOS version of the TDC Mate app, you’ll find a real-time hit test tool in the "Sensitivity Config" page:

  • Tap each zone and watch feedback in real time

  • See which taps register and how strongly

  • Adjust Threshold or Signal Amp live to match your hitting strength

ℹ️ Currently, this feature is only available on iOS. On Android, we recommend making incremental adjustments, testing in-game, and tuning gradually based on your experience.

🥁 Built for Performance, Tuned for You

Both TDC10 and TDC17 are designed to be responsive out of the box — but they also give you room to grow.
Whether you’re perfecting your “Don” timing or dialing in the left-right “Ka” balance, these tools let you customize your setup with confidence.

Every drummer plays a little differently. Now your drum can play like you do.
