TDC Mate App v1.9 Now Supports Adjustable Polling Rate for TDC10 & TDC17

We’re excited to announce that TDC Mate iOS version 1.9 is now live, introducing a powerful new feature for TDC10 and TDC17 users: Polling Rate customization.

🚀 What Is Polling Rate?

Polling Rate refers to how often your controller reports input data to the connected device (measured in Hz). A higher polling rate means faster and more responsive input delivery. For rhythm games like Taiko no Tatsujin, this translates to:

  • Smoother hit detection

  • Lower input latency

  • Better performance during fast and dense note sections

⚙️ Key Features of the New Polling Rate Setting

  1. Available in Both PC and Switch Modes

You can now access the Polling Rate setting directly in the TDC Mate app when using your drum in PC or Switch mode.

  2. Up to 1000Hz on PC

When connected to a PC, you can set your Polling Rate anywhere from 125Hz to 1000Hz, giving you maximum input precision.

  3. Switch Mode Limitation

Please note: The Nintendo Switch system limits USB polling to 125Hz, regardless of your device settings. Therefore, adjusting the rate while connected to a Switch will have no effect—this is a system-level constraint.

  4. Steam Version of Taiko Works Great

If you’re playing Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival on Steam, both “PC Mode” and “Switch Mode” now support Polling Rate adjustment. Feel free to test and choose what feels best for your timing.

🛠️ Compatibility Requirements

To use the new Polling Rate feature, please ensure your drum is updated to the latest firmware:

  • TDC10: Firmware v2.33 or later

  • TDC17: Firmware v1.6 or later

You can update your firmware using the TDC Mate app (iOS/Android).

📌 A Few Tips

  • For most users on PC, setting the Polling Rate to 500Hz or 1000Hz provides a noticeably smoother experience, especially for advanced or competitive play.

  • Higher polling rates may increase USB power usage slightly. If you encounter unusual behavior, try stepping down to 500Hz.

  • The difference may not be immediately visible but becomes apparent in high-speed songs or with precise mod charting.
